Begin the LifeStar sexual addiction recovery program with the 7-week Getting Started Workshop.
In this workshop, couples and individuals jumpstart their healing with addiction and trauma recovery education, workbooks, tools, and group support. Applying the skills taught helps couples to begin adopting a healthier lifestyle and nurturing a stronger relationship. Additional betrayal or pornography recovery can be provided by our licensed couples therapists in St. George, UT. However, this recovery proves to be more effective when first preceded by the Getting Started Workshop.
When couples start recovery at the same time, they actually become stronger together. Even if a couple isn’t sure about the future of their marriage after an affair or addiction, working together will help clarify what direction is best for their relationship. We understand that working with couples is messier and more difficult than working with one person at a time. However, this approach has more potential to meet an individual’s deepest need for belonging and security.
The Getting Started Workshop is a class where we create an optimal learning environment. We use a combination of lecture, small-group discussions, workbooks, exercises, and videos to help participants master the concepts and tools.
We give participants the essential building blocks for long-term success through:
18 hours of instruction
5 workbooks
75+ exercises
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our addiction recovery workshop:
Does it work?
A recent study from researchers at Southern Utah University showed that over 90% of couples report feeling more connected after attending our LifeStar Getting Started Workshop. Here are some other findings from the study:
Men were strengthened in their ability to find healthy outlets for life stress rather than turning to their sexual addiction or infidelity.
Women reported having a stronger sense of safety in their relationship and less of a sense of hurt and betrayal.
Men were less inclined to view pornography or even view it in a positive light.
Why attend group addiction and betrayal recovery?
An African proverb states, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” You’ve already tried to conquer this sexual addiction on your own. Usually for years. We encourage you to try something different and join together with other individuals who are working through the same struggles. Addiction and betrayal trauma thrive in isolation. A significant step in the healing process is connecting to others. We provide that connection in LifeStar.
Partners who have been betrayed also need group support to help them cope with the overwhelming feelings of isolation, rejection, embarrassment, and confusion they experience upon discovering their spouse’s secret behavior. Being in the company of other women and men who understand what you’re going through is therapeutic and helps create safety, peace, and order as you begin addiction and affair recovery.
Who should attend?
We strongly recommend that couples attend together so they can begin the process of education and healing together. However, the workshop is also for single adults and for those clients whose partners are not able or willing to attend.
